Pladehallen is a new residential and commercial project at Frederiks Brygge – a dynamic neighborhood in development around the marina and Frederiksholmsløbet. Cafés, restaurants, cultural offerings, and outdoor dining all contribute to a lively atmosphere in both the square and the green oases of this expanding area. With its special character, its location directly by the canal, and its interaction with the future performing arts area, Pladehallen forms a natural gathering point for life in the new neighborhood.
The transformation of Pladehallen is undertaken in respect of the industrial history of the area, and the new buildings are included in the existing structure of the original warehouse from 1960 and 1975. The characteristic roof profile with its three arches – a significant statement of the historical context surrounding all of Frederiks Brygge – will be preserved as framework for the new buildings. The roof arches will be elevated to make room for a high-ceilinged ground floor with cultural offerings, cafés and restaurants plus two additional residential floors with shared roof terrace.
The flats in Pladehallen are designed by Danish architect company C.F. Møller and contains 40 bright and carefully designed flats. Most of them contain 3 rooms as well as a few flats with 2 rooms. The building also offers two shared roof terraces, bringing the residents closer to nature and the large windows will shower the rooms with light even when you are inside.
The flats are designed with a single element dividing hallway, living room, and bedrooms. Large window areas ensure plenty of daylight and provides a feeling of space. All flats have a spacious hallway.

The architecture and materials of the building have clear references to the historical industrial context. All facades are made as half-timbered in concrete and with fillings in red brick and glass. All windows are small-paned, providing an industrial look even if they are in three layers. The building is labelled in the lowest energy class. The interior materials have been carefully chosen to match the industrial references of the facades. Raw concrete elements, raw concrete walls, and visible constructions and installations. All flats have floors of solid oak planks contrasting the raw concrete ceiling. The kitchens are in steel.
Pladehallen is located north of Frederiksholmsløbet where the water, the square and the marina provide the perfect framework for social occasions, activities, and outdoor living.
On the roof terraces you can relax, enjoy the sun, or spend a lovely evening with friends and neighbors. The roof terraces are laid out with elevated garden beds and roof gardens, encouraging shared DYI gardening projects and the possibility of enjoying the vegetation of the changing seasons.
Apart from providing an inspiring green environment for residents and visitors, the green garden beds, roof gardens and courtyards also make a difference to the sustainability of the area, since it contributes to raising the biodiversity and improving living conditions for birds and insects in the city.
Pladehallen surrounds a narrow, green courtyard and the passage between the buildings has both a visual and a physical function as a link between the new local street, Pladehallen, Kulturpladsen, and the harbour canal. The courtyard creates a connection between the industrial identity of the area and a lush, green room – growing in interaction with the architecture. Plants and steel wires form a vertical garden with connection to the open construction of the roof. Different sorts of grasses and trees create varied outdoor areas along the pedestrian zones. Bicycle parking will be placed in both ends of the courtyards.
The kayak club meeting, the baptism, or the birthday party can all be held in one of the three common rooms of the area. The rooms are available for a weekend, and have a fully equipped kitchen with oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer.
Furthermore, the area offers a community greenhouse and a workshop, which can both be used for a small yearly fee.
The cozy courtyards have been designed as lush and natural landscapes, creating a welcoming, bright, and safe environment to support social life in the area for all age groups. The courtyards are perfect as outdoor rooms for activity and a place for neighbors to meet.
All residential buildings at Frederiks Brygge have been certified DGNB Gold and are designed with a focus on environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
The objective is to reduce CO2 emissions from building operations, which is achieved, among other things, through digital energy management, ensuring swift intervention to optimize resource utilization and reduce energy waste. Frederiks Brygge is part of a well-functioning pathway system that encourages the use of public transportation and bicycles, with the possibility of charging electric vehicles in the parking garage.
All flats are labelled with a great energy class, which ensures that they meet all strict energy requirements while also offering low heating costs. This gives a comfortable indoor climate, a reasonable economy – and a clear conscience towards the environment.
